Róbert Roth (1972), born in Bratislava - Slovak actor with interesting voice fund
He became acquainted with acting in Children's Radio Drama Suite. He graduated from Bratislava Conservatory and by now he studies theatrical directing at the Bratislava VŠMU Academy.
He has been a member of the Slovak National Theater (SNT) since 2000. In the same year he was nominated on the national theatrical award Dosky 2000 for his creation of Ariel in the Tempest by Shakespeare. He has created also other Shakespeare's characters on the SNT stage - Hamlet, Antony and Cleopatra (Octavius Caesar), Midsummer Night's Dream (Demetrius) or Twelfth Night (Clown Feste), at the Bratislava Castle - the Merchant of Venice (Gratiano). His creation of Daddy UBU in Alfred Jarry's UBU (puppet theater) was awarded the Best Actor prize in the Czech Republic, another nomination of Dosky came in 2006 for the adaptation of Dostoyevsky prosaic works.
He plays also outside his home theater; he featured in a film Vladimír Morávek: Hrubeš a Mareš jsou kamarádi do dešte (2005). He collaborates with radio - a play Baudolino (Radio Slovakia). He has read an audiobook Eskorta by Michal Hvorecky.
He's a fan of the Rolling Stones, in March 2008 he debuted with a music album Klamanie telom (Body Delusion). 11songs in a chanson spirit comes from tradition of legendary Dežo Ursíni and Jaro Filip, bringing a peculiar poetics of Marcel Buntaj and Maroš Hečko, the major authors of the lyrics. Unbridled energy of Robert does not prevail in compositions, on the contrary, you will find his cultivated expression here. Arrangements, based on acoustic instruments and inspired vocals make a background for a while in which yet-not-revealed singer's alter ego is developed in a real beauty. His voice may be heard in advertisements of the daily news SME or Citroen company.
